1914 - Leipzig book exhibition and The Great War
In March 1914 items for a Shakespeariana exhibition at Leipzig National Library were requested with the hope that it “would be much appreciated in Germany, and would bring home to the continental public the value of the memorial as a home of Shakespearean study”
The items sent included a mounted cast of Shakespeare’s face taken from the monument above his tomb at Holy Trinity Church.
