Under the charter of incorporation of 1553, the court was held fortnightly before the Bailiff and had jurisdiction in personal actions up to £30. The charter of 1610 required the court to meet weekly and with jurisdiction over mixed as well as personal actions up to £30, raised to £40 in 1664.
