Copy probate of the will of Thomas Baylis of Old Stratford, yeoman, dated 17 January 1679/80, bequeathing his real estate, most subject to the life tenancy of his wife, Isabell Baylis, as follows: to his grandson, Thomas Mason, son of Daniel Mason, mercer, a messuage in Bridge Street in the tenure of Charles Hopkins and known as the White Hart, together with a meadow in Old Stratford in the tenure of Michael Palmer; to his daughter Frances Mason, wife of Daniel Mason, a messuage in the tenure of Daniel Mason; to his grandson, John Newman, son of his son-in-law, John Newman, a messuage in Wood Street in the tenure of Thomas Careless; to his grand-daughter, Mary Newman, a messuage in Henley Street in the tenure of Mathew Beane; to his grand-daughter, Elizabeth Lea, a close and barn in Old Stratford in the tenure of Robert Biddle; to his grandson, Thomas Hemings, a messuage and barn in Greenhill Street in the tenure of Robert Howes. With bequests of money to his grandsons, Thomas Mason, John Mason and Isabel Mason, the children of Daniel Mason, to John Newman and Henry Newman, sons of his son-in-law, John Newman, and to his daughter, Elizabeth Bartlett, wife of Richard Barlett, and leaving the rest of his estate to his wife, Isbabell Baylis.
