Description

Indenture of lease, from Richard Lyghtfote, master of the Gild of the `Wholy Crosse' etc. of Stretforde vppon Havyn, and the aldermen and proctors of the same Gild, to Thomas Wynfylde, of a tenement with a garden `on the bacside of the same' in Henley strete between a tenement of Henry Clopton gent., and a tenement of the said Gild called the Angell, and of two shops lying in the Shammles of the town of Stretforde, the one called the `Cornar shoppe', then in the tenure of the said Wynfylde, and the other adjoining the aforesaid shop, and then in the holding of one Raffe Bott; for 80 years at an annual rent of 31 shillings Dated 14 March, 35 Henry VIII A small fragment only of the seal of the Gild in red wax remains Endorsed in a later hand: `Wm Smyth: fine 8 li xij s. for 31 [years] from M[ichaelmas] last'
