Baddesley Clinton and Whitchurch

Description

Late 16th century extract from the will of Dame Constance Ferrers late of Baddesley Clynton deceased relating to Morebarn fields [ in Baddesley Clinton], stating that if Edward Ferrers the younger, son of Henry Ferrers, son of the said Constance deceased, after the death of the said Constance and before the lease of Morebarn fields had expired, should die without lawful issue, whereby Edward Ferrers son of the said Constance would inherit the manor of Badsley, or if it happened that her said son Edward Ferrers having the lease of the said fields and the stock of sheep and cattle should die before the said lease expired, that then after the death of the said Edward Ferrers the younger and the said Edward Ferrers her son, George and Nicholas Ferrers sons of the said Constance were to hold the said lands and stock for the remainder of the said term if they were still alive. If however the said Nicholas and George died before the death of the said Edward the younger without issue, or before the said lease expired, then the said Edward Ferrers her son was to retain the said lease and stock. The said Constance also confirmed to the said Nicholas her term of years in the moiety of her farm of Whitchurch and the stock of sheep and cattle on the same. Undated: c.1551. Endorsed: 1.
