Description

Sale particulars for an auction of freehold properties to be held at the Shakespeare Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon on 7th October 1908.

This was arranged by Messrs Hutchings & Dee, auctioneers, on behalf of the executors of the late Mrs Sarah Flower.

Lot 1 - Freehold Garden with Gardener's House, in Old Town, late in the occupation of Sarah Flower,
Lot 2 - Old Town Garden, late in the occupation of Sarah Flower,
Lot 3 - Number 1 Avon Croft, occupied by James R. Campbell, held on an annual tenancy,
Lot 4 - Number 2 Avon Croft, occupied by Mrs Jollye, held on an annual tenancy,
Lot 5 - The "Old Town Room", Old Town, occupied by Mrs Cameron Stuart,
Lot 6 - The Paddock, Southern Lane, late in the occupation of Sarah Flower and subject to an annual payment to the Lord of the Manor,
Lot 7 - "Avonside", occupied by Miss Rathbone, held on an annual tenancy,
Lot 8 - The Boat Store (formerly a malthouse), occupied by Elias Davis, held on an annual tenancy, paid quarterly,
Lot 9 - Numbers 60 & 61 Waterside, occupied by William Chandler and Alberts Simms, held on weekly tenancies,
Lot 10 - Freehold Garden adjoining Lots 6 and 9, occupied by Mr R. Sheldon, held on an annual tenancy,
Lot 11 - Number 51 Waterside, occupied by Mr G.M. Dickinson, held on a quarterly tenancy,
Lot 12 - "Summer House Garden", Waterside, occupied by Mr C.W. Brown, held on an annual tenancy and subject to an annual payment to the Lord of the Manor,
Lot 13 - A block of Freehold Property fronting onto Henley Street, Guild Street and Shakespeare's Birthplace garden. The lot consists of:
(a) Half timbered residence, Number 19 Henley Street, let to the Trustees of Shakespeare's Birthplace, 16 years of a 21 year lease remaining, [This building was later renumbered as Number 14 Henley Street],
(b) Malthouse with buildings and yards,adjoining 19 Henley Street, occupied by Messrs Flower and Sons, Ltd, held on an annual tenancy,
(c) Four small shops and dwellings adjoining the above (malthouse?), occupied by Messrs W. Gregory, J. Worrall, W. Davis and M. Kinchin, held on weekly tenancies [possibly Nos. 22-25 Henley Street],
(d) The Brewery Club House, let to Messrs Flower and Sons, Ltd, 79 years of a 99 year lease remaining.
