Conveyance by lease and release from Sir Francis Lawley of Middleton Hall, Baronet, William Pitt of Cheltenham, co. Glos., esquire, and James Arkell of Alston in Cheltenham, farmer, to Elizabeth Allcock of Stratford-upon-Avon, spinster, for £148, of a piece of land in Old Stratford containing 1004 square yards, having a frontage of 22 yards along Shakespeare Street and extending westward from there to a hedge dividing the same from land of Edward Fordham Flower, bounded on the north by land of William Unitt and on the south by land of Elias Jackson; also another piece of land in Old Stratford containing 473 square yards, having a frontage of 11 yards along Mulberry Street and extending southwards from there to the land of William Gibbs, bounded on the west by land of Joseph Holtom and William Bourton, and on the east by land of James Cox; which pieces of ground formerly formed part of a ground called the Shop Ground and were occupied with the White Lion Inn in Stratford-upon-Avon, and were part of the lands conveyed, by indentures of lease and release of sevenparts, dated 18 and 19 April 1822, as to one half, to the use of Thomas Arkell and as to the other half to the use of James Arkell; and the entirety of which premises were conveyed, by indentures of 19 and 20 April 1822, and 24 and 25 December 1829, to the use of Francis Lawley, in trust to sell the same and reimburse himself for £3500 lent by him on the security of the said premises; which said Thomas Arkell had since died, but under his will, dated 12 October 1830, and certain indentures of lease and release dated 16 and 17 January 1832, his share in the said premises had passed to the said James Arkell; which James Arkell had since become bankrupt and the said William Pitt appointed sole assignee of his estate and effects.
