Description

Feoffment from Richard Bentley of Brincklowe yeoman to Mathew.- Cure the younger of Combe Abbey gent., for £370, of a messuage or burgage tenement with appurtenances and a croft thereto adjoining called the Milneyard, two closes of pasture called Costans Hooke and the Hooke Close, three other closes of pasture called the Hill Close, the Orchard Close and the Towne Close, and one half a meadow called Hell Meadowe, all which premises are situate in Brincklowe and are now or late in the occupation of the said Ricard Bentley; also a close called the Crabtree Close in Brincklowe now or late in the occupation of Katherine Arton widow; another close of pasture with appurtenances called the Crosse Close in Brincklowe now in the occupation of Nathaniel Smyth; three cottages or tenements with appurtenances in Brincklowe now or late in the several occupations of the said Nathaniel Smyth, William Newcombe and John Burton; and all those arable lands etc. in Brincklowe being reputed to be taken as two parts of one ploughland and now or late in the occupation of the said Richard Bentley; to hold the same of the chief lord of the fee. Thomas Rose, Philip Hartley, Brian Bentum and Lazarus Worth (by his mark). ii) With another memorandum whereby it is agreed between the parties to these presents that the dower of Katherine Arton widow and mother of the said Richard Bentley was excepted out of the premises thereby conveyed for the life of the said Katherine Arton.
