Gift from John Wymondeswold' of Coventr' and Richard Hewet' of Stychale to John Clerk' of Stychale and Alice his wife of 12 cottages in Coventre of which 3 lie together in le Litilparkstrete between the tenement once belonging to John Smythier and the tenement once belonging to William Swettenham; and the other nine lie together in le Westhorchard' between the tenement of Thomas Brownale and the tenement once belonging to Richard Palmer; with the further gift of a toft, half a virgate of land and half a virgate of meadow in Merston' Jabet [Lea Marston]; also a messuage and half a virgate of land in Stychale lying between the land called le Torchzard' and the common field of Stichale; and four selions of arable land in Fynnam; all of which land the said grantors had by the gift of the said John; to hold the same for ever of the chief lord of the fee. Witnesses: John Esterton', mayor, Henry Breux and Robert Melburn', bailiffs of the city of Coventr', Adam Hyton', John Everdon', Richard Southam, junior, John Bydell' of Stychale, Thomas Smyth' of Merston Jabet and others. Dated at Coventr', 1 August, 10 Henry V. 2 circular red seals, on a split tag: i) a male head to the left. Classical. ii) ? a merchant's mark. Endorsed: Clerk de mesuagio et dimidia virgata terre iacens iuxta le Torchzard' [erased] in Stychall. The --- [erased] --- [AG]
