Feoffment: Tidmington

Description

Feoffment by (1) the Revd John Seagrave of Halford, clerk and Sarah, his wife, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah Seagrave of Warwick, spinsters (which John, Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah are the only children of Edward Seagrave, formerly of Oxhill, late of Castle Ashby, Northants., clerk, deceased, by Mary, his wife, only child and heir of Thomas Johnson, formerly of Shipston-on-Stour, baker by Mary (nee Prestoe), his wife) to (2) William Horniblow of Shipston-on-Stour, esq. with Thomas Snow of Shipston, farmer and Edward Banister of Shipston, gent., his Trustees for £1040 16s 6d, of lots purchased at auction, viz: 1) 9 acres 3 roods and 31 perches in Tidmington, bounded on the North and North West by a brook forming the boundary between the Parishes of Shipston and Tidmington, on the West and part of the South West by land purchased by Michael Roche, on the rest of the South West by land of the said William Horniblow, on the South and East by land of the Revd Thomas Lambert Snow, and on the North by land purchased by Edward Banister. 2) 6 acres 3 roods and 29 perches, being two closes of meadow in the occupations of Francis Hawkes and Robert Ashfield, abutted on the North and North East by a brook, on the East by the Oxford to Birmingham Turnpike, on the South by land purchased by Robert Hall and on the West by a close purchased by John Byrkin Bellamy. Recitals: 1) 11 and 12 April 1771, Deed to declare the uses of a Fine between Mary Johnson, widow of Thomas, and Edward Seagrave and Mary, his wife, only child of Mary and Thomas, whereby meadow ground in Tidmington was settled to the use of Mary Johnson for life, then to Edward Seagrave for life, remainder to Mary Seagrave and then to her children as she disposes, or in the absence of any disposition, equally between them. 2) Deaths of Mary Johnson, Edward Seagrave and Mary Seagrave without any disposition whereby land descends to children of Edward and Mary as tenants in common who have sold at auction.
