Mason Family; Case for the Opinion of Council

Description

Case for the opinion of council regarding the payment of tithes in Claybrook, Leicestershire. Appears that the Reverent Donald McKinnon, Vicar of Clabrook had been absent for 20 years serving as a chaplain in the East Indies. Mr McKinnon had obtained a licence to be absent but the parishioners were anxious regarding the payment of tithes and asked the Bishop whether or not he could appoint an agent to collect the payments. The opinio was that the parishioners should do nothing as the equity would not allow them to be sued for more than six years back tithes.
