Lease: Buckland and Laverton (Gloucestershire)

Description

Lease from the Right Honourable Thomas Lord Viscount Weymouth Baron Thynne of Warminster Wilts. Knight of the most noble Order of the Garter to Thomas Richardson and Arthur Richardson, his brother both of Buckland Glos., yeomen of a tenement with garden orchard etc. in the tenure of Arthur Freeman situate in Laverton parcel of the Manor of Buckland and Laverton with all arable lands meadows enclosures and allotments to the said tenement belonging then in possession of Thomas and Arthur Richardson for a term of 99 years then following if John Richardson then aged 37 years, Thomas Richardson then aged 32 years and Arthur Richardson then aged 30 years should so long live at a yearly rent of £2-2-3 with a payment of a heriot of the best beast or £4 upon the dropping of any of the said lives. The consideration for the granting of such lease being the surrender to the said Viscount of a Lease dated the 18th. November 1760 granted to John Richardson (father of the said Thomas and Arthur Richardson) late of Laverton, yeoman deceased for the lives of John Richardson, brother of the said Thomas and Arthur, and William Gibbs, son of Edward Gibbs of Lighthorne Warwick., yeoman and also of £80. Signed: Weymouth. Seal of red wax. Witnesses: James Knight and Thomas Davis. Endorsed Surrender dated 29th. May 1812 of the above Lease by Thomas and Arthur Richardson to Sir Thomas Phillipps in consideration of £1000
