Description

Indenture of Settlement and Counterpart between Sir Thomas Chamberlaine Knight, one of H. M. Justices of the Court of Kings Bench, John Woodward of Avon Dassett, gentleman of the first part, Francis Phippes of Kenilworth, gentleman and William Phippes, his son and heir apparent of the second part, and Katherine Gostelowe alias Gorstelowe of Prescott, Oxfordshire, widow of the third part, upon the Marriage of Francis Phippes of Kennelworth, gentleman and Katherine Gostelowe alias Gortelowe of Prescott, Oxfordshire, widow whereby it was covenanted that certain closes in action should be assigned to Sir Thomas Chamberlaine, Knight, one of H. M. Justices of the Kings Bench and John Woodward of Avon Dassett, gentleman upon certain trusts. Signed Thomas Chamberlaine (armorial seal of red wax), John Woodward (seal of red wax on a dual coronet or, a greyhound sejant argent, charged on the breast with a crescent for difference), F. Phippes and William Phippes. Witnesses: George Wilkinson, John Merrell, Ann Savage, Richard Croft and Ambrose Holbech. Counterpart signed: Thomas Chamberlayne, John Woodward and by the mark of Katherine Gorstlowe. Seals and witnesses as before.
