Lease and Release: Alveston

Description

Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 21st. February 1838 between William Stanley of Carthusian Street in the Parish of St. Botolphs, London, warehouseman of one part and Timothy Smith the younger of Stratford-upon-Avon, yeoman of the other part. Reciting the Will of William Stanley the elder (ER3/3009) and that the said William Stanley the elder died the 10th June 1795 and also the death of Mary Stanley daughter of the Testator the 29th December 1804 leaving her surviving Edward Stanley (her husband since deceased) and William Stanley the younger left to these presents and reciting also the death of Mary Stanley, wife of William Stanley the elder the 1st. January 1836. It was thereby witnessed that William Stanley the younger granted to Timothy Smith, a parcel of land delineated on a plan thereto and a Close called Coles Close containing 5 acres to the use of William Stanley for the purpose of banning any estate tail in the said hereditaments. Witnesses: Pearce W. Rogers clerk to Messrs. Addington Co. Bedford Row, London and Francis Woodall of the Insolvent Office, Chancery Lane Lease William Stanley to Timothy Smith of the same premises for one year. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before.
