Assignment of Lease: Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon
Assignment of a Lease from Richard Tyler of Stratford-upon-Avon, gentleman to John Cotterell of Shottery, yeoman and Mary, his wife. Reciting ER3/3105 it was witnessed that Richard Tyler, in consideration of £160 to him paid by John Cotterell, assigned to the said John Cotterell and Mary, his wife the residue of the term of 1000 years in the premises in the Rother Market upon which premises three messuages were then builded subject to two sub-leases theretofore made by Richard Tyler of part of the premises, one dated the 20th September 1627 to Thomas Singleton for 96 years and the other dated the 3rd October 1627 to John Charnock for 96 years. Memorandum endorsed that before delivery of these presents it was agreed by the parties that neither the within named John Cotterell and Mary, his wife nor the executors, administrators or assignees of the said John should have any interest in the messuage in the tenure of Mistress Alice Woodward. Albeit the same was contained in the original Indenture of Lease within recited and after sealed and delivered in the presence of Edmund Hathway, Charles Barbour, Thomas Waller and Samuel Tyler. Memorandum attached dated the 6th September 1642, being a Release and receipt for the purchase money (£160) by Richard Tyler to John Cotterell. Signed: Richard Tyler. Seal an acorn with two leaves.
