Lease and Release: Whitley in Wootton Wawen
Conveyance by Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 24th December 1697 by William Court alias Smith of Tardibecke [Tardebigge], yeoman and Elianor, his wife to John Morris of Whitley in the Parish of Wawenswotten [Wootton Wawen], yeoman and his heirs of 60 acres of arable meadow and pasture in the 3 common fields of Whitley called Whitley Field, Sandy Field and Perriford Field with appurtenances, from and immediately after the decease of Mary Morris then wife of the said John Morris, in consideration of £320 paid by the said John Morris. Signed: William Court alias Smith and Elianor Court alias Smith (by her mark). Seals of red wax illegible. Witnesses: Luke Harland, Edward Lythall, Anne Harland and William Tibbetts. Lease dated the 23rd December 1697 by William Court and Elianor, his wife to John Morris of the same premises for 6 months. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before. See also ER3/3194.
