Description

Conveyance between Phillis Hancocks, widow of John Hancocks, late of Stonleigh, husbandman, deceased, Mary Spooner, widow of William Spooner late of Stonleigh, yeoman deceased, and one of the daughters of the said John Hancocks, and Phillis Hancocks another of the daughters of John Hancocks and Edward Hope of Wedgnock Park, Hatton, yeoman and Anne his wife (another of the daughters of John Hancocks and Phillis his wife) of one part to John Hancocks of Stonleigh, yeoman only son and heir of John Hancocks deceased and Phillis his wife of the other part. Reciting the will of John Hancocks, deceased, whereby he devised certain hereditaments to his wife for her life and charged them with certain legacies. It was thereby witnessed that in consideration of £30 paid to Phillis Hancocks, widow and in consideration of £40 apiece paid to Mary Spooner, Phillis Hancocks and Edward Hope they the said Phillis Hancocks, Mary Spooner, Phillis Hancocks Junior and Edward Hope released to John Hancocks a close with appurtenances in Woolston called Hawkins Furze containing 15 acres, 1 rood and 36 perches. Signed by the mark of Phillis Hancocks, widow, Mary Spooner, Phillis Hancox, Edward Hope, Ann Hope and John Hancocks. Seals of red wax. Witnesses: C. Capel and Joseph Plant.
