Conveyance by Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 5th April 1709 by Christopher Baker of Henley-in-Arden, tanner and William Court alias Smith of Tardebeck [Tardebigge], Worcs., yeoman and heir of William Court alias Smith theretofore of Whitley, deceased to Robert Moreton of the Inner Temple, London, gentleman of 52 acres in the common fields of Whitley called Whitley Field, Sandy Field and Pereford Field, to the use that the said Robert Moreton should be Tenant of the freehold in order that a Common Recovery might be suffered which Recovery should enure to the use of Christopher Baker and his heirs and to the intent that all estates tail in the property should be barred. And it was covenanted between the parties that Moreton Slaney of Birmingham, gentleman should be demandant in the said Recovery. Signed: Chris. Baker and William Court alias Smith. Seals of red wax impression of a child's head. Witnesses: Jon. Orton, Mar: Gibbs and Mich. Gilbey. Lease dated the 4th April 1709 by Christopher Baker and William Court alias Smith to Robert Moreton of the same premises for one year. Signed, sealed and witnessed as before.
