Conveyance [being a Settlement upon the Marriage of Richard Towney of Daventry, gentleman to Eleanor Edkins of Coleshill, spinster (one of the 8 children of Thomas Edkins of the same place, gentleman by Mary his wife theretofore Mary Archer of Shrewley, spinster)] by Eleanor Edkins to Pierce Walsh of Oxford, esquire and William Archer of Erdington, of an undivided eighth share of a messuage and several closes called Brickiln Close (13 acres, 1 rood and 38 perches), Barbers Meadow (divided into two the whole containing 14a-2r-36p), other Closes containing respectively 3a-3r-3p, 2r-34p, 2a-0r-29p, 9a-2r-37p, 3a-1r-16p which four last mentioned closes were called Menescalls and were in the Parish of Wooton Wawen and Closes called Hermitage Closes and other lands late the property of Francis Smith alias Carrington esquire deceased, also an eighth close in an undivided moiety or half part of hereditaments devised by the Will of Joseph Eborall theretofore of Warwick to his niece Mary, wife of Thomas Edkins with remainder after her decease to her children equally; upon trust for Richard Towney and his heirs subject to the life interests of Thomas Edkins and Mary his wife. Signed: Eleanor Edkins and Richard Tawney. Seals of red wax. Witnesses: Charles Palmer and Thomas Townsend. Lease dated the 9th May 1799 by Eleanor Edkins to Pierce Walsh and William Archer of the same premises for one year. Signed: Eleanor Edkins. Sealed and witnessed as before.
