Lease and Release: Broadway, Longdon, Darlingscote, Cuttson

Release dated the 17th August 1642 from John Keyt of Ebrington, Glos., esquire to Francis Smyth of Chipping Campden, Glos., gentleman and Thomas Taylor of Ebrington, Glos., yeoman, of all those messuages, lands, tenements with appurtenances viz. one pasture ground called the ground above the old sheep house, the meadow called the meadow below the old sheep house, the two pastures called the Old Sidelongs, one messuage called the Parsonage House with the orchard, garden and backside, two pools and the little close thereto belonging, the meadow called the Moores then or late in the possession of Anthony Brooks alias Weaver and the hopyard therein contained, the close called the Church Close then or late in the possession of Michael Garrett, the lower meadow below the old sheep house, the new Sheep House pasture, the pastures above the Moores, the three meadows called the Pooles, the meadow called Singers meadow and the meadow called Ledburyes with all the tithes hay and hay silver and all that one yard land of arable meadow and pasture then or late in the tenure possession or occupation of Nathaniel Roberts and Francis Elletts, all which premises are situate in Broadway, Worcs. and heretofore purchased by the said John Keyt of William Sheldon the elder and William Sheldon the younger of Broadway, esquires - and also that leasow or pasture with the appurtenances being divided into four parts lying in Longdon Travers, Worcs., known as New Leasow, also one ley of meadow or pasture ground with appurtenances in the fields of Dascott, Worcs. near unto certain Inclosures lately parcel of the inheritance of William Lord Compton, also that close arable land meadow and pasture with the appurtenances being divided into two parts commonly called Slatters Close in Longdon aforesaid and abutting upon the said leasow called New Leasow which said last mentioned premises were heretofore in the tenure of of one John Walgrove alias Fleete, esquire and now in the tenure of the said John Keyt. Also all that third part of the Manor of Cuttson alias Cuttessonne, Worcs. and all wastes, heaths, moors, marshes, waters, fishings, ponds, rents, services, mines, quarries, remainders, rents, reversions and hereditaments belonging and all Court leets, court barons, views of frankpledge, fines, amerciaments, heriots, goods of felons, fugitives, outlaws, waifs, estrayes, knights fees, fee farms, warrens and all other franchises, liberties and privileges, easements, profits, commodities and hereditaments whatsoever to the said third part of the said Manor belonging and all that tenement in Cuttson alias Cuttessonne in the possession of one William Dobbins with the Close and backside to the said messuage adjoining and belonging, and a close or parcel of inclosed ground in Cuttson alias Cuttessonne called the meadow close by estimation 5 1/2 acres, and two yard lands of arable in the fields of Cuttson alias Cuttessonne by estimation 50 acres, and commons and common of pasture for 204 sheep as belongs to said messuage, and two yard lands, and also a messuage with appurtenances in Cuttson alias Cuttessonne in the tenure of one Anthony Lea and the little close adjoining and belonging, also another close or parcel of inclosed ground called Dirtybritch Close containing 2 acres, also those parcels of arable land to the same messuages belonging by estimation 11 1/2 acres, and common of pasture to same belonging for 36 sheep in the fields and commonable places in Cuttson, which said third part of the Manor of Cuttson alias Cuttessonne were purchased by the said John Keyt from Katherine Freeman, Conningsby Freeman and Francis Freeman with all manner of houses etc. etc. belonging and to all and every the manors, messuages lands etc. of him the said John Keyt or whereof or wherein he hath any estate of inheritance or in use within the townes parishes hamlets and fields of Broadway, Longdon, Dascott and Cuttson in Worcestershire. The said John Keyt for the better advancement of Francis Keyt, son and heir of the said John Keyt, and his heirs, grants to the said Francis Smith and Thomas Taylor all above premises the use of the said John Keyt for the term of his natural life and after his decease to the only use of the said Francis Keyt his heirs and assigns for ever. Dighton that this conveyance is a sure and sufficient conveyance in law to settle all and every the manors and lands to the said John Keyte esquire for his life and the remainder over to Francis Keyte his son and his heirs for ever, according to the limitation of uses within expressed.
