Exemplification of Fine: Broadway

Description

Indenture between William Stephens of Broadway, esquire of one part and Robert Constable, Graye's Inn, Middlesex, esquire and Roger Belwood, Middle Temple, London, esquire of the other part recites that William Stephens in and by an Indenture dated 24th July 1672 with others conveyed to the said Robert Constable and Roger Belwood and their heirs all those closes or inclosed grounds of meadow or pasture called Dorne Knapp grounds in Broadway and commanded to make further reasonable assurances and whereas the said William Stephens in pursuance of the said covenant hath of the Term of Holy Trinity last past in the form of law levied a fine surrender conusance de droit come ceo etc. to the said Robert Constable and Roger Belwood of the said closes - this Indenture witnesses that the true intent of the fine is that the effects of the fine shall be and endure to the only uses of the said Robert Constable and Roger Belwood and their heirs for ever. Signed: William Stephens. Seal cut away. Witnesses: Richard Blyth and Henry Headley. Endorsed with memorandum that the said Robert Constable and Roger Belwood for the sum of 10/- paid by Thomas Savage of Broadway gentleman (by the appointment and consent of William Thomson of the Middle Temple esquire) released for ever to the said Thomas Savage and his heirs all the estate right title and interest of the said Robert Constable and Roger Belwood aforesaid and in the tithes and other the premises mentioned.
