Snitterfield deeds: Phillips of Welcombe

Extracts from indentures of Fine levied in Easter Term 1653 wherein Sir James Hales, knight and Thomas Hardres, esquire of Canterbury were plaintiffs and Stephen Hales of Snitterfield, esquire and Elizabeth his wife were deforciants, of the Manor of Snitterfield, 20 messuages, 20 cottages, 30 tofts, 40 gardens, 40 orchard, 1000 acres of land, 300 acres of meadow, 1000 acres of pasture, 200 acres of wood, 400 acres of furze and heath and £10 rent in Snitterfield, Bearley, Luscombe, Fulbrooke and the Heath. And also the tithes of corn and grain etc. in Snitterfield before Oliver St. John. Examined 6th October 1815.
