Snitterfield deeds: Phillips of Welcombe

Description

Indenture dated 19th October1662 between Sir Stephen Hales of Snitterfield, Knight of the Honourable Order of the Bath and Dame Elizabeth his wife of the 1st part, Theophilus Bird of the Parish of St. Giles in the Fields, Middlesex, gentleman and Ann his wife of the 2nd part, and Joseph Danne of the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields, Middlesex, milliner of the 3rd part whereby messuages with appurtenances in the tenure of Thomas Medes, John Herbage, Francis Brown, John Richard Bracey, William Bayles and John Elvins respectively, situate in the Townfields of Snitterfield, each containing one yard land and a half more or less were demised by Sir Stephen Hales and Dame Elizabeth his wife to Theophilus and Ann Bird for a term of 500 years subject to a proviso for redemption upon repayment of a sum of £1000 lent by Theophilus Bird to Sir Stephen Hales. Covenant by Sir Stephen and Dame Elizabeth his wife that they would before the end of Michaelmas Term then next ensuing levy a fine and convey the premises the Joseph Danne to the use of the said Theophilus and Ann Bird for the term of 500 years remainder to Sir Stephen Hales for ever.
