Description

Gift with warranty from Alice widow of John de Stapeltone of Toneworth' to Alice her daughter of a piece of land in Toneworth' called Polfeld' extending in length from the land of Dom John atte Berne, chaplain, as far as the fishpond of John le Archer, and lying in width between the land of the said Dom John and the highway leading from the court ( curia) of John le Archer towards Beggereslone, reserving to the grantor for life, a sufficient road for carts and draught animals to pass through the said land from the said highway as far as her land called Schiles Lond'; to hold the same of the chief lord of the fee. Witnesses: Dom John atte Berne, Thomas Wystan, William Bron, Richard Aleyn and others. Dated at Toneworth', Sunday after the feast of St John the Baptist, 7 Edward III. Fragment of circular, white seal on tag, defaced. Latin, parchment, 11 x 3.75 ins.
