Description

Indenture between William Grove of Coventry esquire (surviving Devisee in trust under the Will of John Stanton late of Warwick esquire deceased), Elizabeth Stanton of Warwick (widow of the said John Stanton), William Stanton of Warwick esquire, eldest son and heir of the said John Stanton, John Heylyn of Bristol esquire Elizabeth his wife, Mary Stanton of Warwick spinster, John Stanton of Coventry gentleman and Hannah Stanton of Warwick (which said Elizabeth, wife of John Heylyn, Mary Stanton, John Stanton and Hannah Stanton were the younger children of the said John Stanton deceased) of the 1st part, Isabella Gilbert of Coventry spinster of the 2nd part and Richard Archer of Shrewley in the Parish of Hatton farmer of the 3rd aprt reciting the Will of John Stanton (see DR 38/1043) and reciting that by Indentures of Lease and Release of even date between the parties to these presents, the said Richard Archer purchased the capital messuage with the farm and lands thereto belonging in the occupation of Samuel Cox (which was the greatest part of the estate devised by the Will of John Stanton deceased), it was thereby witnessed that in consideration of 5/- apiece paid to Elizabeth Stanton, William Stanton, John Heylyn Elizabeth his wife, Mary Stanton, John Stratton and Hannah Stanton by Richard Archer, and also in consideration of 5/- apiece paid to William Grove and Isabella Gilbert by the said Richard Archer, the said William Grove and Isabella Gilbert (by the direction of Elizabeth Stanton widow, William Stanton, John Heylyn Elizabeth his wife, Mary, John and Hannah Stanton), and also the said Elizabeth Stanton, William Stanton, John Heylyn Elizabeth his wife, Mary, John and Hannah Stanton demised to Richard Archer all the messuage, garden, orchard and homestead in Wolverton late in the occupation of Stephen Nason clerk (then untenanted), also all that other messuage and one yard land and one quarter yard land lying in the Common Fields of Wolverton and all those closes or inclosed grounds of arable meadow and pasture to the said last mentioned messuage belonging called by the names of Home Close, Barn Close, Brickkiln Close, Pitfield, the Peartree Close, the Rough Close, the Two Meadows, The Cup Reading, the Great and Little Hill Closes, all which said last mentioned messuage and lands were in the tenure of Thomas Manton commonly called Blakon Farm, all which said messuages and lands were part of the hereditaments devised to William Grove and Thomas Newsham by John Stanton deceased for a term of 500 years subject to a proviso for redemption being security for the debts of John Stanton deceased.
