Description

Confirmation wih warranty from Nicholas Lungrespeie to William de Wystanescroft, for homage and service, of all that land in Wystanescroft which he and his predecessors held of the church of Thanewrthe and the rectors thereof; to hold the same of the said church and of the grantor, the rector thereof, rendering annually 2s 6d (2 terms); and for this the said William gives 5 shillings and has become his man. Witnesses: William le Archer, Elias the grantor's servant, Henry de la Le, Walter the clerk, William clerk of Crowenhale, Peter de Valle and certain others. Seal on tag, green fragment only. Latin, parchment, 63/4 x 21/4 ins. Note: Nicholas Longspée was the fourth son of William third earl of Salisbury. He was bishop of Salisbury from 1291 to 1297. ??? c.1230-1240
