Snitterfield, Studley and Alveston

Description

Copy Will of Richard Smith late of Snitterfield gentleman deceased whereby after bequests to his son Henry and daughter Martha, he gave all his messuage etc. in Snitterfield to William Wale Brown of Sow gentleman and his son in law Thomas Brown of Kinwarton gentleman and their heirs upon trust for his son Henry for life, remainder to the first and other sons of the said Henry and his heirs male and in default of such male issue to his daughters equally, remainder upon trust for the Testator's heirs. And he devised his property in Studley upon trust for sale to payment certain legacies (to his daughter Martha, to his daughter Sara, wife of Thomas Brown, to Daughter Ann Wilcox, to grandchildren, Mary Ann Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Harriet Bennett and John Bennett. Grandchildren Ann - Christian Wilcox have already been given money, see ER5/421) and he further devised his lands in Alveston together with all the residue of his real estate in trust for his son Henry for life, remainder upon trust for sale for the children of the said hen equally to attain 21 years. Signed by the Testator in the presence of William Oldaker Hunt solicitor and Henry C. Hunt attorney at law both of Stratford-upon-Avon. Testator died on 21st February 1842. Will proved 2nd April 1842.
