Lease with warranty from John Archer esquire the elder to Richard Smythe of Ulnale of a mezsse lying at the Hall end that is to say two crofts, a coppice and a meadow lying to the said mezsse for the said Richard to build new housing of two bays at the cost of the said Richard and to keep the said building for 60 years; to hold to the said Richard, his wife and children for 60 years, rendering annually 14s. in equal portions at the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist [24 June] and at St. Martin's Day [10 November], the said John Archer to have the right of distraint if the said rent was unpaid or in arrears 6 days beyond any of the said terms and the right of re-entry after 12 days; heriot of 6s. to be paid on the death of the said Richard.
