Description

Contemporary copy of a settlement previous to the marriage of Edward, son and heir of William Mountfort of Kingshurst esquire, and Elizabeth, one of the daughters of Valentine Browne of Croft, Lincs., esquire, the said marriage to take place before the next Christmas, being an agreement between the said William and Valentine, that a conveyance should be made from the said William to Sir Thomas Mounson, Sir William Mounson, knights, Ralph Sheldon and Walter Fowler esquires, for £1,000, of the manor of Kingeshurst with messuages, lands and rights belonging to the same in Kingshurst and Coleshull, Sheldon, Castlebromwich, Waterouerton' and Aston, also two cottages and 4 closes lately purchased in the name of Edward Newman gentleman from John Cowper of Coleshill, also the manors of Codborrow and Mounkspaty with all other lands of the said William in England; to hold to the use of the said Edward Mountfort and Elizabeth Browne for their lives, and after their deaths to the use of their heirs, male; in default to the use of the heirs, male, of the said Edward Mountfort; in default to Peter, second son of the said William Mountfort and his heirs, male; in default to John, third son of the said William Mountfort; and his heirs, male; in default to William, youngest son of the said William Mountfort and his heirs, male; in default to the lawful heirs of the said Edward and Elizabeth and in default to the use of the said William Mountfort the father and his heirs for ever.
