Hodgson of Clopton House: Correspondence and diary notes

Description

From Arthur Hodgson, Montpellier, Brisbane to Frank Hodgson. Annie's birthday, 26 years old. They had a giant luncheon party with many dignitaries attending. They have had much rain and heavy thunderstorms. He fears that many squatters are ruined owing to the drought. These include Colonel Warde and Mr Biscol. He hopes that Frank is doing himself justice at Cambridge. Young Henry Littleton has invested well in a cattle station. Hopes that Frank will get through his little 'go' satisfactorily. He would like to come home on the Panama Mail Steamer through the Straits of Magellan, touching at Rio De Janerio.. By next mail they will have decided. His only objection to England is the want of occupation.
