Hodgson of Clopton House: Correspondence and diary notes

Description

From Eliza Hodgson ( Lilly), Carthona [?] to Frank Hodgson She says that she has been expecting a letter from him in the last 3 mails. She is very busy at school. She hopes that he has been successful in his little 'go'. She enjoyed the Christmas holidays although it was frightfully hot. She had been to the Downs with Papa, Mama and Percy. They were very pleasant and green. after the rain. She describes Mr Beit's stone house. She has also spent a few days at Eton Vale. Mrs Murrey is such a nice person. She is going to be confirmed in the Cathedral, the first that has been held there. They had a telegram from Adelaide saying that the Prince had made his appearance and he is expected in Sydney soon. She is hoping that they will soon return to England as she does not like Sydney much. Emily did not appear much thinner but Charlotte has grown very much. Has he any more crests? Charlotte has given her her collection and now she has about seven hundred. She had a letter from Grandmama, who is miserable as usual. Percy seems happy at Miss Hall's.
