Hodgson of Clopton House: Correspondence and diary notes

Description

From Eliza Hodgson (Lilly), 22 Via Felice to Frank Hodgson She thanks him for the long letter and the set of Bezique which he sent her. She has begun to teach Charlotte and has had a game with Captain Gillespie. Edward sent an inkstand. Papa came this day week, looking very jolly. There is plenty of gaiety with Balls and receptions. She lists several of them that they have attended and supposes that he will not envy any of them their engagements. Mr Liddell is engaged. They had a great time at the carnival. Mrs Whittingham kindly asked her to their balcony. She thinks that Papa will get up some theatricals with Mrs Maclean.
