Peculiar jurisdictions became redundant with the introduction of the Court of Probate in 1858 and the many of the original records were transferred to the District Probate Registry in Birmingham, from whence they were transferred to Stratford

The two parishes of Stratford-upon-Avon and Hampton Lucy were peculiar jurisdictions whereby the incumbent, for two years out of three was allowed to prove wills and adjudicate in ecclesiastical court matters.
