Description

Quitclaim from John Catesby and Richard Merbrook to Thomas Sydenhale and Thomas Grene of half the manor of Lappeworth' which lately belonged to Lady Rose Moutfort, and all lands, tenements, rents and services in the vill of Lappeworth' which lately belonged to the said Rose, also the manor of Codbarowgh', with lands, tenements and rents in Nuthurst called Peches, Sandycroftes, Holwey, Peloryfelde, Longecrofte, Hethepeche and Byrchefelde and 16d. annual rent from a cottage in Nuthurst, formerly in the tenure of Walter Peche, and lands, tenements, rents and crofts in Toneworth' called Wygstones, Hamvyles, Godharplonde, Berfordlonde, Swanesdyche, also one croft which Robert atte Berne then held, all which lands the said grantors held jointly with the said grantees by the gift and feoffment of the said Lady Rose; to hold for ever. Dated at Lappeworth' 29 March 5 Henry VI. Octagonal seal of red wax on tag, half-inch, a goat's head between the letters I C. 2. Circular seal of red wax on tag, half-inch, a mullet of 6 points with a spot between each point. Endorsed: [Early 16th cent.] A release from Jhon Castby and others of the manor of Lapworth to Rose Mountfortt. Latin, parchment, 91/4 x 51/2 in., indented.
