Feoffment with warranty from William Whatlye of Henley in Ardena yeoman to Robert Snape and John Williams of Bewdesert' husbandman and Thomas James of Wotton Wawen husbandman of a messuage and adjacent croft in Henley in Ardena, lying in breadth between lands lately belonging to the Gild there to the north and the land of John Harper to the south and extending in length from the square of the said town as far as the land of the said John Harper; also one shop or small house in Henley in the middle of the square, opposite the said messuage; also a garden in Henley between the river running from the mill there, through the said square to another river running from the lower end of the said town called Fludyeat Brooke; also a meadow called Lymbses, divided into 2 parts by the rivulet there in Bewdesert' and Vllenhall, extending in length from the common green there called Lymbses Grene as far as the ford there called Botley Ford and in breadth lying between the land of Edward Aston knight called Banstalls on the one hand and the land of John Harman gentleman called Waters on the other; also a close lying in Forde End in Vllenhall in breadth between the land of Edmund Berrey called Stonye Hyll on the one hand and the land of the heirs of Chambers on the other and extending in length from the land of the heirs of John Ferfoxe of Barforde as far as the land lately belonging to the Gild of Henley; also one other croft in Bewdesert lying in breadth between a croft there called Belam croft on the one hand and the land of the said Edmund Berrye on the other and extending in length from Bucklye land as far as the land of the heirs of Chambers; all which lands the grantor held by the gift of Hugh Marven of Henlye gentleman by charter dated 28 March 7 Elizabeth [1564/1565]; to hold for ever to the use of the grantor and his heirs male, or in default of such heirs to the use of Peter Whatlye of Henley in Ardena, tanner, his brother and his heirs for ever.
