Documents in connection with a Suit in Chancery between Thomas Thomson and others Trustees of Shakespeare's Birthplace and Charles Bowles Shakespear and others Executors of John Shakespear of Langley Priory Leicestershire relative to the will of John Shakespear and in particular a bequest to the said Trustees of £2,500 for forming a museum and a yearly rent charge of £30 payable out of the Langley Priory Estate for a custodian. Consisting of:- 1. Copy of the will of John Shakepear 17th November with an Extract from the same. 2. Minutes of the Trustees authorising the proceedings 22nd Feb 1859 3. Case as to the construction of the will with Counsels opinion 18th March 1859 4. Bill of Complaint filed 18th April 1859 5. Affidavits on behalf of Plaintiff 6th December 1859 6. Copy of Judgement of Vice Chancellor Sir W. Page Wood declaring the bequest void 20th December 1859. Two copies. 7. Copy Judgement of Lord Chancellor Chelmsford and the Lords Justices Knight , Bruce and Turner upon appeal confirming the Judgement of the Vice Chancellor 28th January 1860. Two copies. 8. Certificate of the Master in Chancery as to the amount of taxed costs 21st April 1860.
