Description

Accounts, partly relating to a stay in London.

A reader (Dr. David Hunter, Music Librarian and Curator, University of Texas Libraries) has kindly provided additional information regarding these accounts: "the original owner of these accounts was Charles Leigh, brother of Edward, 3rd Baron Leigh. Charles (1686-1749), was an MP, lawyer, and in 1716 married Barbara, daughter of Richard Lumley, 1st Earl of Scarborough. In the account book, Charles refers to "uncle Wentworth," by whom he means the Hon. Thomas Watson Wentworth (1665-1723), MP. Charles's mother was Eleanor, daughter of Edward Watson, 2nd Baron Rockingham, and Thomas's sister. Charles notes his visits to Fillongley and Adlestrop."
