Description

Settlement by Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 25th August 1791 between Thomas Hart the Elder of Stratford-upon-Avon Turner and Thomas Hart the younger of Alcester Butcher (one of the sons of the said Thomas Hart the Elder) of the 1st part Thomas Kite of Clifford Chambers Labourer and Mary Kite ( his daughter) of the 2nd part and Samuel Morris of Clifford Chambers Yeoman and Thomas Spiers of the same place Yeoman of the 3rd part whereby Thomas Hart the Elder in consideration of the intended marriage between Thomas Hart the younger and Mary Kite and in consideration of the £60 to be paid to Thomas Hart the younger as dowry conveyed to the said Samuel Morris and Thomas Spiers a messuage with pigstye then in the occupation of Thos. Hart the Elder in Henley Street and adjoining to the Swan and Maidenhead Inn together with part of the use of the yard and shop at the bottom of the yard with appurtenances to hold to the use of Thomas Hart the Elder and his heirs until the solemnisation of the marriage and therefore to the use of him Thomas Hart the Elder and Alice his wife for their lives and the life of the survivor of them and therefore to the use of Thos. Hart the Younger for his life with remainder to the said Mary for her life if she survived him with the remainder to the use of the heirs of the body of the said Thomas Hart the Younger by the said Mary with remainder to the use of the heirs of Thomas Hart the younger forever. Signed by the mark of Thomas Hart the Elder, Thomas Hart, Thomas Kite, Mary Kite and Samuel Morris. Seals of red wax. Witnesses Margaret Wallington and Robt. Wheler. Lease dated the 19th August 1791 by Thos. Hart the Elder to Saml. Morris and Thos. Spiers same property for one year. Signed by the mark of Thomas Hart the Elder. Sealed and witnessed as formally.
