Minutes and related papers: Governors, Royal Shakespeare Company and predecessors

Custodial History

RSC/AA/1/1-26 Minute books of the Shakespeare Memorial Association, founded in 1875, and of the Governors of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre 1875-1960, and of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 1961-1981, deposited by RST Secretary Reginald Bosley, on his retirement in July 1986.

RSC/AA/1/1-26 were transferred from the library collection to the RSC archive in 2015. The original listing of these items as a series of 'minute books' has been retained, although the format varies and they also include some material other than minutes, such as papers relating to the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Charter 1957-1969 and material relating to the staff pension scheme. Archive copies of later Minutes of Executive and Governors Meetings are regularly deposited by the Clerk to the Governors.
