Description
Deed of separation of Francis Birch and Sarah his wife, with draft deed of 1877: Sarah was to live as if sole and unmarried at least eight miles beyond the Town Hall in Stratford, and was given custody of the three youngest children, whom Francis Birch would be able to visit twice a year if he wished. He would pay a third party £52 per annum for their maintenance. Ellen Birch, aged 16, would be apprenticed as a milliner and dressmaker, at her father's expense, 20th November 1879.
