Description

Programme for a production presented by the City of Glasgow and Strathclyde Regional Councils, with Centre International de Creations Théâtrales and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Jean-Claude Carrière's play is based on the Mahabharata, an epic Sanskrit poem of Ancient India. It has been translated into English and directed by Peter Brook. The play has three parts: The Game of Dice; Exile in the Forest; The War.

This play had an international tour, the only United Kingdom venue being Glasgow 13th April-17th May 1988.

This programme contains introductory notes by Carrière, Brook and Robert Hewison, as well as sections on the components of the play, the characters, cast and venue.
