Records relating to music composed by Guy Woolfenden for the Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) 1962 production of Bertolt Brecht's play 'The Exception and the Rule', and other material developed in the RSC's own studio.

Includes a draft score of 'Gloria' written for 'The Shepherd's Pagent' and a typescript lyrics for 'The Shepherd's Song'; handwritten lyrics for the song 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor'; drafts of music written for WIlliam Shakespeare's play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'; a typescript of Federico García Lorca's 'Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias'; a typescript list of pieces to be rehearsed and discussed at the Royal Shakespeare Studio ('Cataline' by Ben Jonson, 'Lament for the Death of a Bullfighter' by Federico García Lorca, and 'The Lower-Middle Class Wedding Party', by Bertold Brecht); a typescript version of 'The Ballad of Chaste Lovers' with draft music; a draft of 'The Santa Fe Trial' set for voices.
