Counterpart of a defeasance made between Henry Ferrers of Badisley Clinton esq. and Francis Bertye of London gent. concerning a bond made by the said Henry to the said Francis in the penal sum of £1,900, whereby the said bond was to be void if the said Henry fulfilled the covenants made in an agreement between the said parties made on 26 October 16 Elizabeth [1574] concerning lands in Kent. 30 May 18 Elizabeth [1570]. Signed: Frauncis Berty. Circular seal of red wax on tag, incomplete. 3/4 in. A shield quarterley 1. and 4. A lion rampant. 2. and 3. Three battering rams barways impaling a chief chequy.
