Copy of an abstract of title of Charles Vere Ferrars Townshend to an annuity or rent charge of £4,000 charged on estates in cos. Suffolk and Norfolk covering the period 20 May 1723 to 21 August 1822. Undated: c. 1823. Endorsed: [In the same hand] For the perusal of Messrs. Robson, Lightfoot and Robson on behalf of Lord de la Warr. Charles Vere Ferrars Townshend (1785-1853) was the second son of George, 2nd. marquess Townshend who inherited from his mother the barony of Ferrers of Chartley. On the death of Charles' brother George, 3rd. marquess Townshend without issue, the marquessate passed to a cousin, and the barony of Ferrers remained in abeyance among the descendants of his sisters, one of whom, Harriet Anne married Edward Ferrers of Baddesley Clinton in 1813 see Burke's Peerage 1929. p. 2306b.
