Description

Memorandum by Walter Giffard of High On [High Onn], co. Stafford esq. of his promise to `my brother' Henry Ferrers that upon receipt of £1,400 from lands conveyed to the said Walter for the discharge of debts charged to the said Walter before the end of the next Michaelmas Term, the said Henry should dispose of the said lands and that the said Walter would join with him to make the necessary assurances. Dated at Baddesley 12 February 42 Elizabeth [1599/1600]. Signed: Walter Gyfforde Seal of red wax applied through paper tongue. Witnesses: Jo: Burnby; John Wilkinsonne. Endorsed: 1. [In the hand of Edward Ferrers c.1630] Mr Giffardes promise to assure to Mr Henry Ferrers his landes uppon payment of 1400 supl; supi;. 2. [c.1839] 12 Febry 42d.; Elizth. Walter Gifford's undertaking that on payment of £1400 mentioned within Henry Ferrers his brother should dispose of the lands conveyed to him for securing such sum as he willed and that the said Walter Gifford would join in making all such assurances as should grant thereof.
