Draft articles of agreement made between Henry Ferrers of Baddesley esq. and Stephen Muryell of Shipdon [Shipden], in Norfolk gent. reciting that whereas the said Henry was anxious to secure the marriage of his son and heir Edward to a gentlewoman with a marriage portion of not less than £1,500, it was agreed that if through the preferment of the said Stephen, or by his own means, the said Edward was able to obtain such a marriage whereby he could pay the said Henry £500 in ready money, then the said Henry would convey to the said Edward the manor of Baddesley, reserving only £100 a year for himself, on behalf of the said Henry Ferrers, George Brome of Halton[Holton], Oxon. esq. and Walter Gifford of Highe On [High Onn], co. Stafford esq., and also that the said Henry, George and Walter upon receipt of the said £500 would convey to the said Edward the manors of Tachbrooke and Kingswood with all lands and appurtenances together with the advowsons and rights of patronage belonging to the same. The said Henry bound himself for the performance of this agreement in the penal sum of £500. 15 July 5 James I [1607].
