Mortgage from Henry Ferrers of Baddesley Clinton esq., George Brome of Halton [Holton], Oxon. esq. and Walter Gyfford of Hyon [High Onn], co. Stafford esq. to John Wylkinson of Shipton upon Stowre, co. Worcester [Shipston-on-Stour, co. Warwick] gent. of pasture land called Arborfild in Baddesley park late in the tenure of Clement Ludford of Rowington gent. deceased, excepting the trees growing on the said pasture and the great pool lying on the north side of Arborfild. To hold the same for the remainder of the term of 21 years granted to the said Clement Ludford for the annual rent of 10s. to be paid at Michaelmas and Lady Day in equal portions, the said John to repair the fences and mounds of the said land if wood was supplied for this purpose. The said lease to be void if the said Henry Ferrers repaid the sum of £40 to the said John Wylkinson before the following 4 February in the Middle Temple Hall in London. 4 February 40 Elizabeth [1597/8]. With an assignment from John Wilkinson to John Bird of Wroxall for securing and to be void on payment to Bird on payment of £20 and interest as therein mentioned. [85a]
