Description

Answer of Edward [Russell], Earl of Orford (one of the defts.) to the complaint of Adlard Cage Elizabeth his wife re the manor of Borough Green, Cambs., purchased by Orford from Antony Slingsby, brother of Elizabeth Cage. Orford paid £8322 to Slingsby and gave bond for £1500 more which was subsequently paid to Cage as executor of Slingsby. Found after purchase that there were two judgements against manor so has retained remaining £478 until they should be cleared.
