Description

Gift from Joan widow of Robert Burdet of Baddesley Clynton' to Nicholas Metley and John Watson clerk of the manor of Baddesley Clynton and the advowson of the church with appurtenances, reserving to the said Joan all the buildings within the moat from the gates as far as the moat on the west side of the manor, with accesss to the kitchen of the manor to prepare food and drink with entry and exit. The said Joan also to have half the orchard or garden of the said manor from the path extending between two pits in the said garden leading round the garden as far as the end of the barn, with free entry and exit, one acre of wood in the wood of the manor to cut and carry away, excepting that reserved by rails, with free entry and exit, also firing for her hearth in the same wood and a certain pit Benecroftpet with free entry and exit. The said Joan to hold the same during her lifetime, receiving also 8 1/2 marks annually on the feasts of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary, the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, St. Michael and St. Andrew, the said Joan to have the right of distraint if the rent fell in arrears beyond one week, and the right of re-entry if more than six weeks in arrears.
