Description

Bargain and sale with warranty from John Hales of Coventr', esq., to Thomas Gregorie of Coventr' and Elizabeth his wife, for 100 pounds, of his fulling mill with appurtenances formerly in the tenure of Thomas Pype, fuller, and now of William Pipe, fuller, situate in a croft called Rabcrofte in the demesne of Stoneley, also his Grove or wood called Bawdewynes Grove with appurtenances now in the tenure of William Pype, also a parcel of land called a Pyngle lying near to the water on the south thereof and all the houses, pastures, commons and woods, with the fishery and water course from Wolsey Bridge to Porte Bridge and the tolls and suits appertaining to the Mill, and grist mill and all services, profits, etc. in Stoneley belonging to the said mill, formerly parcel of the possessions of the Monastery of Stoneley which the said John Hales purchased from Katherine,Duchess of Suffolk, widow, and which were granted to her with other lands by letters patent dated 13 May, 37 Henry VIII [1545] ; to hold of the late king as of his manor of Kenelworth in free socage and not in chief; to hold the same to the said Thomas and Elizabeth by the same tenure, rendering annually nine shillings at the court of Augmentations. Appointment of Richard Denton of Coventr' and William Sloughe of Stoneley, yeomen, as his attorneys to deliver seisin. Dated: 12 April 4 Edward VI.
